Dear Alumna of the SJHA Cheerleading Team: We, the coaches, all fellow alumnae cheerleaders, of St. Joseph Hill Academy Varsity Cheerleading, ask that you think back to your days of rooting for the white and blue, maybe chanting H-I-Double-L, or clapping to the poetic words “Challenge! If you dare. Perfection. Perfection everywhere!” While the current SJHA cheerleaders shout out those same words, our program has truly grown over the years. Our routines now contain stunts of the highest difficulty and top-notch gymnastics skills. Two years ago in 2010, we not only took the title of CYO Island Champions, but we also individually captured the title of the Archdiocesan Champions for the first time in many years. This year for the first time in the history of SJHA cheerleading, our team has qualified to attend the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida! We are attending this competition in February 2012. Of course, the cost of this trip is quite extensive and we are doing our best to fundraise in order to alleviate this cost for our team members’ families. One way in which we hope to raise funds is by selling alumnae cheerleader T-shirts. These T-shirts were given out to the seniors on our team who graduated the past two years. The front reads “My time may be through” while the back says “But I cheer still for St. Joseph Hill. SJHA Alumnae Cheerleader.” We are asking all alumnae cheerleaders to purchase one of these T-shirts to show your pride for your cheerleading team and to support our trip to Nationals. The T-shirts are $25 each; to order please fill out the order form on the back of this page and return it in the envelope provided. If you are not interested in purchasing a T-shirt but still wish to support the cheerleaders’ trip to nationals, you are welcome to make a monetary donation to our team either via checks made payable to SJHA Cheerleading or through the SJHA online donation page, (please select general use under gift designation). It may be true that it has been some years since your time on the team, and the program may seem very different than the one in which you participated. Yes, long gone are the days of perfectly polished saddle shoes stomping on the wooden court or rigid arm motions and tightly slicked buns, but so much of what you remember about being an SJHA cheerleader and what you took away from the experience still remains. Every year we try to instill in our cheerleaders the same values instilled into each and every SJHA cheerleader no matter her graduation year: discipline, dedication, and sportsmanship. So, please, support us as we take the program into a new era. Purchase a T-shirt or make a donation and, in doing so, continue to cheer for your alma mater, St. Joseph Hill Academy.
